The Stones Retreat, Jeram: A Bali-Style Villa in the Middle of the Kampung

Jeram is better known for its rows of seafood restaurants and the village roads leading to Kuala Selangor. That's why we were quite surprised when we walked into The Stones Retreat, a private villa at Batu 17, Jalan Klang–Teluk Intan. The vibe reminded us of a resort in Bali, complete with a pool, lounge chairs and thatched umbrellas.

The compound consists of two double-storey houses with a total of four bedrooms. Each bedroom comes with a king-size bed and a sofa bed, plus a spacious en-suite bathroom. Altogether it fits between 10 and 15 people, so it's better suited for big families, small events or holidays with friends.

The living room is comfortable and looks out onto the green trees behind the house. Upstairs there's a games area with a dartboard and a pool table, enough to fill your evenings without having to go anywhere.

The outdoor area is the main draw. An open-air dining table for 10 is placed right facing the pool, and a BBQ area is already set up, so guests just need to bring their own ingredients. The lounge chairs with thatched umbrellas by the pool feel like being at the beach, and almost every corner is photo-worthy.

During our visit, prices started at around RM1,380 a night for the whole villa. Split between 10 to 15 people, the cost is quite reasonable for a private pool stay not far from Klang and Shah Alam. Bookings can be made directly with the management via the phone number listed on Google Maps.
