The Hangout Skywalk, Genting: Hanging 6,106 Feet Above Sea Level

Genting Highlands has long been famous for its cool air and theme parks, but since May 2025 there's a new way to test your nerve. The Hangout Skywalk is part of Hoverland, an observation deck on the roof of the Wyndham Ion Majestic Hotel that sits 6,106 feet above sea level and is recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the country's highest observation deck above sea level.

Getting there is simple. Enter through the front door of Ion Majestic, turn left to the Hoverland counter, then take the lift up to the roof. Up top, the instructors fit you with a harness and brief you on how to use the safety line. They watch over participants from start to finish.

We walked along the edge of the building while looking down at the forest and Genting's buildings below. The first challenge was sitting with our legs dangling over the edge, then hanging and letting go with our hands, and finally sitting or lying at the corner of the platform. It was terrifying, but so satisfying. The instructors are good at taking photos too.

Besides the skywalk, Hoverland has the white Stairway to Heaven steps for photos, a piano on the deck, and the Rawr Rawr Ra café for a drink while enjoying the cool breeze.

During our visit, prices started at RM48 for adult admission and RM108 for a package that includes the skywalk. Tickets can be bought on the Hoverland website or at the counter on the hotel's ground floor, and prices may change.
