Thai Chickee, Central i-City: Thai Street Food-Style Chicken Rice
A Thai-style chicken rice shop on the lower ground floor of Central i-City, with Hainanese chicken rice, mala fried chicken and drink or side dish add-ons for RM3.90.
Central i-City in Shah Alam is the first international mall by Thailand's Central Pattana, so it's no surprise that Thai food spots are easy to find here. One of the newest is Thai Chickee at Lot LG-64, Lower Ground Floor, which spotlights Thai street stall-style chicken rice.
We started with the Hainanese chicken rice, the shop's main dish. The poached chicken is tender and juicy, the rice is fragrant, and it's served with soup and a special chilli sauce. For those who love a crunch, there's also crispy fried chicken rice and a mix of both. Other rice dishes include pad kra pao and pineapple fried rice.
For spice lovers, we recommend the Thai mala fried chicken. The numbing, spicy mala flavour gives it a twist, while the chicken stays tender and well seasoned.
The best-value part is the add-on deal. During our visit, drinks could be added for RM3.90. The Thai milk tea is creamy with a fragrant tea aroma, while the longan tea is more refreshing with the sweetness of longan fruit. Side dishes can also be added at the same price, including fried popiah, kailan in oyster sauce and Thai-style fried tofu.
The dining area is comfortable for eating with friends or family. Thai Chickee is open daily from 10am to 10pm, and you can also order via foodpanda, with chicken rice starting from around RM15.90.
Tips
