Jom Teghojah Nismilan! A guide to Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026: top places in all 7 districts, mascots Jang and Daro, events and official tourism accounts.

Jom Teghojah Nismilan! (Let's explore Negeri Sembilan!) Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026 (TMNS2026) is the state's first tourism year since 1999, running alongside Visit Malaysia Year 2026. This special article is a Fuyohh collaboration with Negeri Sembilan: a quick guide to all 7 districts, Seremban, Port Dickson, Rembau, Tampin, Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Jelebu, with the places you should not miss. Every place on this article's map is marked with a special Negeri Sembilan flag pin.

Official Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026 logoThe official TMNS2026 logo brings together the state's three focus areas, beach tourism, eco-tourism and the heritage of Adat Perpatih (the state's matrilineal customary law), with a bunga lado motif and the Istana Lama Seri Menanti palace. As a curtain-raiser, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun launched Jom Teghojah Negeri Sembilan at Padang Majlis Bandaraya Seremban on 7 December 2025, inviting everyone to enjoy the culture, heritage, food and attractions of the state known as Negeri Beradat.

Official mascots Jang and Daro, Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026Meet the campaign's official mascots, Jang and Daro, a cute pair of deer in traditional dress. Their names come from the local Nogori dialect: Jang for bujang (a young bachelor) and Daro for anak dara (a young maiden). Jang wears a songkok and baju Melayu, while Daro wears a star-patterned baju kurung with a flower in her hair. If you spot them at a TMNS2026 event, grab a photo!

In numbers, tourist arrivals to Negeri Sembilan rose from 15.3 million (2023) to 18.3 million (2024). The original TMNS2026 target was eight million visitors, but according to The Star in January 2026, the state is now aiming for a record 25 million visitors. So let's help get there.

1. Seremban: a capital full of heritage. Start at the JKKN Negeri Sembilan Complex (National Department for Culture and Arts) on Jalan Sungai Ujong to learn about local arts, culture and Minangkabau architecture. Then relax at Seremban Lake Gardens, the state's most popular city park. Finish at Pasar Besar Seremban (Seremban central market) for siew pau (baked pork or chicken buns) and local treats. Every weekend there is also a heritage trail through 20 historic sites, including Lorong Seni Seremban with more than 50 murals.

2. Port Dickson: beach paradise. Teluk Kemang Beach is PD's best-known beach and is being upgraded. For a quieter mood, try Pantai Cahaya Negeri. History fans can visit the Army Museum, with old aircraft, tanks and artillery. The Tanjung Tuan Lighthouse, Malaysia's oldest, sits at the tip of the cape near the Melaka border.

3. Rembau: land of Raja Melewar. Hike Gunung Datuk in the Gunung Datuk Eco Forest Park, a hill linked to the legend of Hang Tuah's footprints, with a rewarding summit view. Explore royal history at Muzium Rembau (Warisan Melewar), a replica of the palace of Raja Melewar, the first ruler of Negeri Sembilan. In the evening, take a stroll at Rembau Waterfront on the Rembau River. Passing Kundor and Kendong, stop for daging salai (smoked beef) and lemang (glutinous rice cooked in bamboo).

4. Tampin: the southern gateway. Gunung Tampin is a popular spot for hiking and forest recreation. In Gemas, the historic railway station is the junction of the West Coast and East Coast lines and is now the site of the state railway museum. Near Gemas is the Gemencheh Bridge Memorial, site of a Second World War battle in January 1942.

5. Kuala Pilah: the heart of custom and royalty. Istana Lama Seri Menanti is a wooden palace built from 1902 without nails and now a museum. In Kampung Terachi, the Ngoca festival drew about 30,000 visitors in 2025. For hikers, Gunung Angsi via Ulu Bendul is a favourite weekend trail.

6. Jempol: countryside calm. Chase the sunrise at Bukit Taisho near Bahau, a trail suited to new hikers. Bring the family for a picnic at Taman Tasik Bahau (Bahau Lake Park), or cool off in the river at Hutan Lipur Serting Ulu (Serting Ulu Recreational Forest), about 20 km from Bahau. Bahau is also known for its town vibe and food events.

7. Jelebu: pure nature. Jeram Toi is a tiered waterfall loved by many. Further in, Lata Kijang in Kenaboi State Park is one of the tallest waterfalls in the state. Before heading home, visit the Muzium Adat (Customs Museum) in Kuala Klawang to understand Adat Perpatih up close.

There are plenty of events this year, including the Negeri Rhythms Festival in Port Dickson (26 to 28 June 2026), the Nine Arts Festival in August 2026 and the Angsi Forest Challenge. Do not leave without trying masak lemak cili api (meat or fish in turmeric coconut gravy with bird's eye chilli), daging salai, lemang and Seremban siew pau. Negeri Sembilan is only about an hour's drive from the Klang Valley, or take the ETS train to Seremban.
