SS Mee Jawa Port Klang: A Heritage Taste Since 1997

Mention mee jawa in Port Klang and the name SS Mee Jawa is almost sure to come up. According to the owner, the business started in 1997 with a family recipe passed down the generations. The stall is in the MPK hawker row on Jalan Acheh, Pelabuhan Klang, not far from the bus station area. The vibe is laid-back warung style, not a modern café.

The star is still the chicken and beef mee jawa. The gravy is thick, sweet and rich with a little heat, served with tofu, vegetables, egg and lime you can squeeze in to taste. We finished every last drop, and that's exactly what keeps regulars coming back year after year.

On our latest visit, we found the menu has grown a lot. There are set meals, cooked-to-order dishes, western food and kids meals. The newest item is the chicken chop burger with oozing sauce. For grill lovers, there's well-marinated sate kambing (mutton satay), while the satar and otak-otak are great for sharing as snacks.

The younger crowd can try the Indomie geprek, while those who want a lighter broth can go for soto or bihun sup. For dessert, the cendol durian is one of our picks. Popular drinks include strawberry lemon and blue lemon.

Prices are reasonable for the Klang area. On the foodpanda listing, most noodle and rice dishes cost around RM9 to RM12.50, and eating at the stall is usually no pricier than that. If you're from Klang but haven't stopped by yet, now's the time.
