Selangor Fruit Valley, Bestari Jaya: Fruit Farm & Animals for the Family

The country's largest agrotourism centre, run by PKPS, with trams around the tropical fruit farm, a mini zoo, a deer park and water activities on the lake.

Selangor Fruit Valley, Bestari Jaya

When the weekend or school holidays come around and the kids need room to run, Selangor Fruit Valley (SFV) in Bestari Jaya is hard to say no to. It was developed by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), a state government subsidiary, about an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur.

The scale is truly huge. In September 2025, SFV received two Malaysia Book of Records recognitions as the country's largest tropical fruit farm (515.03 hectares) and largest agrotourism centre (946 hectares). Its crops include durian, jackfruit, rambutan, jambu, starfruit, pineapple and coconut, as well as Nangchem, a jackfruit-cempedak hybrid. When they're in season, visitors can pick the fruit themselves.

Since the area is so vast, visitors are taken by tram from one checkpoint to another. Basic facilities like a café, toilets and a surau are available, and parking is provided.

At the first checkpoint, we met animals you rarely see up close like peacocks, iguanas, snakes and guinea pigs, and the kids were allowed to pick them up and hold them under supervision. Then there's a deer park, a rabbit park, all kinds of birds, chickens and goats, and a duck area that had the children running all over the place.

When we came, durian season was nearly here and the trees were already heavy with fruit waiting to drop. There are also water activities on the lake like boats and kayaks, a herb garden, an orchid garden and a kelulut honey farm for those who want to explore longer.

Entrance tickets for Malaysians are reasonably priced, making SFV one of the most budget-friendly family destinations in Selangor.

Tips

  • SFV is closed every Friday; come early in the morning to avoid the heat and catch the tram to every checkpoint.
  • Bring your MyKad for the Malaysian rate; adult tickets are around RM15 and children or seniors RM10, while water activities are charged separately.
  • For fruit picking, plan your visit around June to August, when many fruits are in season.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and a hat and bring sunscreen, as most areas are open.
