Roadside Pizza, Semenyih: Wood-Fired Pizza by the Roadside

Semenyih has plenty of dinner options, but wood-fired pizza at a roadside stall is a rare find. Roadside Pizza is on Jalan Semenyih, Bandar Rinching Seksyen 6, and works with its own recipes. The pizzas are baked in a wood-fired oven, not an electric one, so the edges are crispy, the centre is soft, and a smoky aroma rises the moment the pizza hits the table.

We started with the portobello mushroom & spinach. It looks simple, but the mushrooms are juicy and the spinach adds a light freshness. Then came the mango chicken, which sounds odd on paper. Turns out the sweet-sour mango balances nicely with the salty, spiced chicken, and the result is refreshing.

The crowd favourite at our table was the pesto chicken & Japanese mayo: creamy, fully loaded with toppings and plenty of chicken. If you come in a big group, this pizza is usually the first to go. To finish, the beef slice, mushroom & caramelised onion is a classic combo with tender beef, flavourful mushrooms and caramelised onion that's just sweet enough.

Although the setting is a casual roadside one, the pizza holds its own against pricier shops. Its Google Maps listing puts the estimated spend at around RM20 to RM40 per person, so it's a reasonable option for group meals.
