Puncak Alop, Bukit Ampang: Dining with a Kuala Lumpur Skyline View

The Ampang Look Out Point reopened after an upgrade in March 2026 and now has the Puncak Hauz café, an event hall and a prayer room, all set against a sweeping view of Kuala Lumpur.

Remember Ampang Look Out Point? It is back as Puncak Alop on Bukit Ampang. After a redevelopment, it was officially reopened by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari on 30 March 2026 and named one of Selangor's tourism draws for Visit Malaysia 2026.

The look is cozy and photogenic, ideal if you love an outfit shot with the KL skyline behind you. There is also an event hall for functions or meetings, and a prayer space on the lower level for Muslim visitors.

Food comes from the Puncak Hauz café, mostly Western dishes and desserts. Visitors we spoke to praised the truffle fries, ayam percik (grilled chicken with spiced coconut glaze) and nasi lemak (coconut rice with sambal). According to TheSmartLocal, menu prices include lemang with chicken rendang at RM35, spicy crispy chicken chop at RM38 and refillable tea at RM9.

Puncak Alop opens daily from 12pm to 11pm. Dusk and evening are the best times to catch the city lights.

Tips

  • Arrive before sunset to catch both the daytime view and the KL lights.
  • Food is on the pricier side, so think of it as paying for the view.
  • There is a prayer room on the lower level and an event hall for functions.
  • The road up the hill is winding, so drive carefully, especially at night.
