Nuff Coffee, Seksyen 9 Shah Alam: Mee Kolok & Laksa Sarawak

No need to fly to Kuching for mee kolok. Nuff Coffee in Seksyen 9, Shah Alam combines two things: a Sarawakian food menu and a coffee shop concept that reminded us of a neighbourhood café in Japan. It opened around March 2024 and introduces itself as a coffee and kolok shop.
The building has two floors. The ground floor is simpler, with small tables and an assortment of chairs, while the upper floor is roomier, more aesthetic and calm. There's WiFi and card games upstairs, so it's a good space for hanging out for hours or getting some work done.
The best-seller is the mee kolok daging (with beef). The curly noodles tossed in soy sauce come with a bowl of soup and spicy soy sauce sambal, tasting close to mee kicap but richer. The laksa Sarawak has a thick, fragrantly spiced broth; add the sambal provided if you want it spicier. The one that caught our attention most was the mee kolok bebek, with tender, smoky smoked duck.
For drinks, try the layered Sarawak-style teh C peng, or the gula apong latte, their signature drink made with Sarawak's special nipah palm sugar. For non-coffee drinkers, there are options like matcha latte and other non-coffee drinks.
Nuff Coffee is open daily from 7.30am to 11pm. A budget of around RM20 to RM40 per person is enough for a plate of noodles and a drink. Seating is fairly limited, so avoid coming in big groups at peak hours.
Tips
- Head upstairs if you want a quieter atmosphere for chatting or working.
- Come early in the morning or after lunchtime to avoid waiting for a table.
- Share the mee kolok and laksa Sarawak if there are two of you, as some diners find the portions moderate.
