Nasi Maqluba at Jom Santai GM Klang: Upside-Down Rice, Penang Style

The Nasi Maqluba stall joined the Jom Santai event at GM Klang from 22 to 26 July 2026, serving Palestinian-style upside-down rice reworked Penang style, with chicken and lamb sets.

Nasi maqluba (Palestinian upside-down spiced rice) gets its name from the way the pot is flipped over to serve. The stall we found adapts it to Malaysian tastes, and the owner describes it as Arab rice cooked Penang style. They set up at the Jom Santai event at GM Klang for five days, from 22 to 26 July 2026. The event has now ended.

There are two main options, a chicken set and a lamb set. Portions are generous, the rice is packed with spice and the meat is tender. Each set comes with mint sambal and chilli, which add freshness and heat to balance the fragrant rice.

The size of the lamb genuinely surprised us, big and tender enough to pull easily off the bone. If you are in Klang and missed the event, follow @Nasi Maqluba to see where the stall pops up next.
