Nasi Lemak Mimpi, LakePoint Central Shah Alam: Nasi Lemak by the Lake
Basmati nasi lemak with more than a dozen side dishes, from sambal paru to beef rendang, enjoyed with a lake and sunset view at LakePoint Central, Alam Impian.
Nasi lemak hunters in Shah Alam, Nasi Lemak Mimpi belongs on your list. It started as a roadside stall where people happily queued in the rain, and now operates from premises at LakePoint Central, Alam Impian. The dining space is pretty and comfortable, with a view over the lake, and you can sit outdoors or inside with air-conditioning.
There are plenty of sides: fried chicken, ayam masak merah (chicken in spicy tomato gravy), chicken rendang, beef rendang, cockle rendang, sambal paru (beef lung in chilli paste), squid sambal, quail egg sambal and more. Beyond nasi lemak (coconut rice), there is also ayam gepuk, bihun sup (rice vermicelli soup) and fish and chips, and they take catering orders too.
We tried three plates. The sambal paru nasi lemak had a sweetish sambal with crunchy lung, the fried chicken nasi lemak came with a big piece of chicken, and the beef rendang nasi lemak had tender meat in a thick rendang gravy. The rice is basmati and the portions are generous, so it is good value.
When we filmed in April 2026, the shop opened daily except Tuesday, from 3pm to 11pm. Come before sunset if you want to eat while the sun goes down.

- Arrive around 6.30pm to grab a seat with a sunset view.
- The shop is closed on Tuesdays, so plan your visit for another day.
- If you are a pair, order different sides like sambal paru and beef rendang to share.
