Memang Meow Kopitiam, klia2: 24-Hour Eats Right Off the Plane
This classic-style kopitiam at gateway@klia2 is open 24 hours, serving spiced fried chicken nasi lemak, butter chicken rice, toast and iced coffee at prices that are fair for an airport.
Plenty of people say airport food is overpriced, but Memang Meow Kopitiam at gateway@klia2 is out to change that. It is open 24 hours a day and sits near the arrival hall, so it is perfect when you have just landed and are starving. When we visited, mains started from around RM16.90.
The concept is a classic kopitiam (traditional coffee shop), with a cosy, calming feel inside and out. Must-tries include the nasi lemak ayam goreng berempah (coconut rice with spiced fried chicken), with big, crispy chicken and a well-balanced sambal, and the creamy butter chicken rice with a rich buttery sauce and tender chicken.
For lighter bites there is chocolate cheese toast piled with cheese, crispy cucur udang (prawn fritters) with dipping sauce, and chicken and egg curry puffs packed with filling. Sizzling fans can go for the sizzling mushroom chicken. Round it off with iced teh tarik or iced coffee to stay awake while you wait for your flight.
