Kopitiam Kita, Kota Bharu: Roti Titab and a Kelantanese Breakfast Spread

Kopitiam Kita in Kota Bharu has been running for 21 years and is known for its original roti titab and a spread of Kelantanese breakfast favourites like nasi kerabu, nasi dagang, laksa and akok.

When in Kelantan, roti titab (toast topped with a soft-cooked egg) at Kopitiam Kita is a must. The owner says the kopitiam started out with roti canai and has now been running for 21 years, serving Kelantanese food that locals and visitors love.

The roti titab here is their original recipe. There is also nasi kerabu (blue herb rice), nasi dagang, nasi berlauk, nasi lemak, laksa, nasi kapit, soy sauce chicken rice, ayam cobek, fried beef with bird's eye chilli, kuih and akok. Some dishes come from outside vendors, including fish dishes from the well-known 'tepi tangga' stall.

The kopitiam is big, with around 120 tables and WiFi. During school holidays and at weekends, two or three tour buses can turn up in a day, so it is often full. It opens from 6.30am until around 2pm or 2.30pm.

Tips

  • Go early, as popular dishes and kuih sell out quickly.
  • Weekends and school holidays are packed with tour buses; avoid peak hours if you can.
  • The shop closes around early afternoon, so plan for breakfast or an early lunch.
  • Share several dishes to sample more of Kelantan's cooking.
