Hersourdohhh, Sri Andalas: A Muslim Woman-Owned Sourdough Café in Klang

In Klang, not many cafés make sourdough the backbone of their menu. Hersourdohhh on Solok Seri Siantan 30, Taman Sri Andalas, is one that does. Almost all its dishes are bread-based, but not ordinary bread; sourdough is naturally fermented using a starter, giving it a slightly sour taste and a chewier texture.

The café has a calm, aesthetic vibe, great for students who want to hang out or get some work done. One more thing that gives many visitors extra peace of mind: the owner is a Muslim woman.

We started with the tuna melt bagel, creamy and nicely balanced with melted cheese. The smoked salmon bagel is soft and slightly salty with a subtle smoky aroma. The pizza bagel is baked until crispy outside but still soft and chewy inside, like a simpler take on pizza.

For something saucy, order the shakshuka. The tomato sauce is thick, tangy and spiced, perfect for dipping bread into. The butter chicken comes with tender chicken in a creamy buttery tomato sauce, while the steak and cheese bagel delivers a juicy, sweet-savoury and slightly smoky flavour.

The drinks are interesting too, including caramel macchiato, hot latte, raspberry matcha, mango espressotini and virgin mojito. The café opens in the morning on weekdays and until late at night on weekends, so it works for breakfast as well as a night-time hangout.
