HALAB Arabic Restaurant, Setia Alam: Middle Eastern Flavours from Bukit Bintang

The well-known Arab restaurant from Bukit Bintang has opened a two-storey branch in Setia Alam, serving mandi, mixed grills, kunafa and Adeni tea made for big group meals.

Setia Alam folk no longer need to drive all the way to Bukit Bintang for Arab food. HALAB Arabic Restaurant, known on Jalan Berangan, Bukit Bintang for its Middle Eastern menu with a strong Syrian lean, has opened a branch on Jalan Setia Dagang, Setia Alam. Halab is the Arabic name for the Syrian city of Aleppo.

The new branch spans two floors. It feels calmer, with a view from the upper level and long tables suited to a business lunch or a large group. The interior is smart and service was quick when we visited.

To start, try the mixed appetizer combining hummus, stuffed vine leaves and baba ganoush. Rice lovers should order the chicken mandi and lamb mandi, with meat so tender it falls off the bone. Protein fans can go for the mixed grill and lamb saloona, a spiced lamb stew.

For dessert, the kunafa Nabulsi with rich, melting cheese is hard to resist. Round things off with a pot of Adeni tea, a spiced milk tea perfect for lingering over a long chat. Portions are big and worth sharing.

For the record, HALAB Setia Alam held its grand opening on 14 August 2026 with a free shawarma promotion, which has since ended. Follow Halab's official accounts for current promotions before you go.

Tips

  • Bring a group or the family; portions are big and the long tables suit groups.
  • Ask for a seat upstairs for a calmer setting and a view.
  • Share the mixed appetizer and mixed grill so you can try more dishes.
  • Check Halab's official social media for current hours and promotions before visiting.
