Duta Riang Villa, Selandar: Five Wooden Villas in a Durian Orchard
Five traditional wooden villas in the middle of a 42-acre durian orchard in Selandar, complete with a swimming pool, ATVs, a mini zoo and its own restaurant.
Some places make us feel like we're going back to the kampung, and Duta Riang Villa in Selandar, in the Jasin district of Melaka, is one of them. The accommodation is built inside a durian orchard of about 42 acres, surrounded by trees and a peaceful rural atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
There are five traditionally themed wooden villas, each named after a famous durian variety: Musang King, Johor Mas, Kim Hong, Udang Merah and Black Thorn (Duri Hitam). According to its official website, most villas have five to six rooms and fit 10 to 12 guests, while Black Thorn Villa is bigger, with a capacity of up to 19 adults. The Musang King villa is built with red timber and has a VIP room with a bathtub.
The grounds are spacious, ideal for big families who want to gather in one place. Kids will love the big swimming pool, while adults can sing karaoke at night. Our favourite experience was riding an ATV around the durian orchard.
On top of that, guests can join an orchard tour and pick fruit in season, visit the mini zoo, try archery or play in the games room. For meals, there's Restoran Kayu Manis on site, so there's no need to head out to find food.

Tips
- Book early for durian season and school holidays, as villas are rented as whole units.
- Choose Black Thorn Villa if your group has more than 12 people.
- Ask about the orchard tour and durian picking when booking, as it depends on the season.
