Dusun Bonda, Batang Kali: Riverside Glamping at Ulu Tamu

At the end of Jalan Ulu Tamu, about 9 kilometres from Batang Kali town, sits Dusun Bonda, a glamping site built right on the Hulu Tamu river in Hulu Selangor. It suits families, groups of friends and company family days who want to sleep in a tent without giving up a comfortable bed and a private bathroom.

There are 18 units in all: 8 Glam 4 tents for four adults and a child, 8 Glam 5 Premium tents for six adults, and 2 Studio Villas facing the river. In our video, the bell tents are neat, with two large beds, extra pillows and a carpeted floor. Breakfast is included and served at shared dining tables.

The activities are what keep kids from wanting to go home. There's a big pool with a man-made waterfall, a kids' pool with a small slide, a playground, a river swing and hammocks. On the river you can try bamboo water rafting for free or mini tubing for RM8. At night a bonfire is lit and every guest gets marshmallows to toast.

For explorers, there's a guided jungle trek to the Hulu Tamu waterfall. For dinner there are three shared kitchens and BBQ sets for rent. Dusun Bonda is Muslim-friendly, smoke- and vape-free, and does not take day visitors. The gate is locked at 11pm. Bookings are made on the official website and are non-refundable, so be sure of your dates before paying.

From Kuala Lumpur, take the North-South Expressway towards Rawang and exit at Batang Kali, then follow Jalan Ulu Tamu for about 9 kilometres from Bandar Baru Batang Kali. The access road is narrow and winding in places, so try to arrive before dark. Check-in starts at 2:30pm, but guests can arrive from 12:30pm to use the pool and showers.
