Dapor DH Western & Grill, Jalan Kebun: RM6.90 Chicken Chop

We often hear people complain that Western food now costs over RM15 a plate. So when we heard there was a chicken chop under RM7 in Shah Alam, we headed straight to Dapor DH Western & Grill at the Econsave supermarket food court on Jalan Kebun. The stall is on the outer side of the food court, facing the car park, so it's easy to find after you're done with your grocery shopping.

The star is, of course, the RM6.90 chicken chop. For that price, the portion is fair: the chicken is crispy outside, still juicy inside, drenched in thick black pepper gravy and served with coleslaw.

We also ordered the RM10.90 lamb grill set with rice. The lamb has a distinct grilled aroma and isn't tough, and once you pour black pepper sauce over it, this set is really filling. The fish and chips uses tender fish, not too oily, with fries that are crispy if eaten hot.

For a side or a kids' meal, the cheesy meatball is a light, cheap option. Besides the dishes we tried, there are other grill options on the menu board.

The same Dapur DH brand also operates at the Econsave Klang Utama food court with similar chicken chop prices, showing that this affordable Western food concept really is their identity. For residents around Jalan Kebun and Bukit Kemuning, this stall is an easy choice for lunch or dinner without having to travel far.
