Ayam Gepuk Uncle Boy, Klang: Free Refills on Rice, Drinks, Soup & Sambal

In all our hunting for ayam gepuk (smashed fried chicken with sambal) across Malaysia, this is the first shop we've found that gives free refills on rice, drinks, soup and sambal all at once. Ayam Gepuk Uncle Boy is on Jalan Sungai Bertih, Taman Emas, Klang, and is easy to spot with its blue colour theme, unlike other gepuk shops that are usually red.

The menu isn't just gepuk. There's also ayam penyet and a few Western dishes. For our first order, we went with the ayam gepuk, served with peanut sauce and sambal. You can choose the sambal at up to three spice levels, and the chicken pieces are big because the shop uses young hens. Fried tofu, fried tempeh and fried cabbage can be added to the gepuk and penyet sets.

For drinks, sirap, iced teh O and plain water are part of the refill concept, so no need to worry about getting thirsty after the spicy sambal.

Next, the ayam crispy gepuk is crispy outside and juicy inside. The ayam kampung (free-range chicken) comes with a special sambal and a bowl of hot soup that you can pour over or sip straight. The ayam kicap berapi (fiery soy sauce chicken) comes in a big portion with soy sauce gravy that soaks right in, while the fish and chips here uses fish almost as big as your palm.

Uncle Boy is open daily from 11am to 11pm. Parking is easier during the day, while evenings are usually busier. The vibe is relaxed and great for meals with family or friends.
