Atas Rumah Cafe, Meru: Hang Out Like You're at a Kampung House
A café on Jalan Nenas, Meru decorated with antiques and kampung furniture, serving Marry Me pasta, nasi lemak ibu and habanero chicken tenders.

The name alone gets people curious. Atas Rumah Cafe on Jalan Nenas, Meru, feels like visiting a relative's house in the kampung. You can choose to sit in the more relaxed outdoor area or indoors, which is filled with antiques and old kampung house furniture.
We ordered the three dishes said to be the best-sellers. First, the Marry Me pasta, a fusion pasta in a creamy sauce that's rich but not too heavy, so it's easy to finish. Second, the nasi lemak ibu, which tasted like home cooking to us. Why the name? Because it really is mum (ibu) who cooks it.
Third, the habanero chicken tenders. The chicken is crispy outside and juicy inside, and the spicy sauce that comes with it has a little kick that kept us dipping.
For drinks, the caramel macchiato here has a strong coffee flavour and is creamy. The strawberry matcha suits matcha fans because the tea flavour comes through clearly, while the Spanish chocolate is thick and rich. The café also sells desserts like chocolate chip cookies and kek batik (chocolate biscuit cake).
If you just want a snack, there are cheesy nachos bolognese and a refreshing blue ocean drink. Overall, prices here are in the range of a typical café in Klang, about RM20 to RM40 per person for food and drinks.
Atas Rumah Cafe is at No. 284, Jalan Nenas, Meru. For enquiries or bookings, the café can be reached at 013-435 0965.
