7 Places to Visit in Segamat: From KM0 to a Felda Homestay
Now closer by ETS, Segamat offers the KM0 landmark, a mural lane, a 1909 iron railway bridge, cendol, a fruit farm, makan spots and a homestay experience.

Since the Gemas–Johor Bahru electrified double-track project was completed in December 2025, the ETS service now reaches Segamat, making this northern Johor district easier to get to. According to folklore, the name Segamat comes from the phrase "segar amat" ("so refreshing") uttered by Bendahara Paduka Tuan (Tun Tepok), the last Bendahara of Melaka, after bathing in and drinking from Sungai Segamat.
We started at KM0 Segamat on Jalan Abdullah, the zero-kilometre landmark that's a must-snap photo spot in the town centre. Not far from there, Segar Amat Lane on Jalan Aji is an art lane full of colourful murals and creative works, perfect for a leisurely stroll while taking photos.
Next, the Jambatan Kereta Api Besi Lama Segamat (Old Segamat Iron Railway Bridge) on Jalan Sultan. The bridge was opened in 1909 along with the Johor State Railway service, and after being replaced by a new line it's now open as a tourist attraction. Its iron structure is striking in design and holds the early history of the railway in the south.
When the weather's hot, stop by Cendol Segar Amat on Jalan Mentol for a cold bowl of cendol. Then we went to Labis Sunrise Farm, which also offers accommodation. Here we saw durian, jambu, jackfruit and gac trees, livestock, and tasted kelulut honey made from jambu and gac flower nectar. Its sunrise and sunset views are beautiful too.
For food, RZ Restoran in Taman Utama is one of the popular spots in Segamat, with a range of dishes that suit families. Finally, we stayed at the Felda Tenang homestay, where visitors don't just spend the night but learn to play gasing (spinning tops) and weave with the local community.
Segamat is an agricultural district known for oil palm and rubber, and it's increasingly showcasing agrotourism like fruit farms and homestays. For the journey there and back, the new ETS trains come with a surau, café and charging sockets at every seat, so the long trip south feels more comfortable.
