6 Places to Visit in Negeri Sembilan for a Family Holiday

Negeri Sembilan is often just a state you pass through on the way south, when in fact there are plenty of places that suit a family holiday. Here are six places we tried ourselves. Most are around Seremban and Port Dickson, so they can be explored in two days with your own transport.

Nabila Agrofarm, about 15 minutes from Seremban town, is an agro farm spanning around 20 hectares. Visitors can ride around the farm safari-style while seeing horses, buffaloes and cows. There's also a mini zoo with ostriches, snakes and parrots, plus horse riding and archery.

In Port Dickson, PD Ostrich Show Farm is open daily from 9.30am to 6pm. Besides feeding the ostriches and watching an ostrich race, we went into the glow-in-the-dark painting gallery and rode a mini train around the farm. The café here serves ostrich sate, so don't miss the chance to try it.

Ladang Alam Warisan in Seri Menanti is known for its horse riding activities. We managed to catch a horseback archery performance by very skilled young riders, and the farm also has a glamping site for overnight stays.

Rumah Api Tanjung Tuan (Cape Rachado lighthouse) is actually located in Melaka territory, bordering Port Dickson. This 24-metre lighthouse was built in 1863. From the entrance of the recreational forest, the paved path to the top takes 10 to 15 minutes on foot, and the view of the Straits of Malacca from up there is wide open. The forest area is also recognised by BirdLife International as an important bird area, and is often visited by birdwatchers during the migration season.

In Seremban, Muzium Negeri Sembilan (the state museum) houses antiques, traditional costumes and Istana Ampang Tinggi, built between 1861 and 1869. For an overnight stay, Hotel Seri Malaysia has branches in Seremban and Port Dickson. The Port Dickson branch faces the beach and has a swimming pool.
